Fellowship Fund

Purpose: Support residents who, through no fault of their own, have outlived their resources.

Background: The Fellowship Fund was made possible through an initial generous gift of $250,000 from the Episcopal Diocese in 1984 to create an endowment for the fund. The Fund was launched in 1984 with a $200,000 grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, and continues to operate as an endowed fund with the principal retained and invested; earnings are used to provide assistance to residents.

Geographic Scope: Collington Life Care Community (Mitchellville, MD)

Eligibility:

• Collington residents
• Must have financial need due to depletion of resources

Key Features:

• Requests for financial assistance with monthly fees are held in strict confidence
• No other residents are aware of who received support
• Determinations are made by the Foundation's Financial Assistance Committee, composed of non-residents

Application Process

1. Contact the CEO or CFO at Collington to initiate the process
2. Work with the CFO to determine the level of need
3. Submit to Financial Assistance Committee for determination
4. Committee reviews and makes awards based on demonstrated need
