Summary
The Endocrine Fellows Foundation's Research Grant Program supports endocrine fellows and junior faculty by providing up to $10,000 in funding for innovative research projects. With a focus on fostering new thought leaders in the field, this program emphasizes rigorous peer review and aims to enhance the research capabilities of fellows, ensuring they can effectively contribute to advancements in clinical and basic science. Successful applicants will also present their findings at designated foundation events.Overview
The Foundation has long recognized the difficulty in training new thought leaders in clinical, translational, and basic science. Funding and support for endocrine fellows remains quite limited both during their training and as they move into nascent academic careers. Our Fellows Research Grant Program is an integral part of what we do to support fellows and junior faculty investigators. Obtaining new grants is often dependent on prior grant recipient history and the ability of fellows to successfully initiate new research projects. This is critical for further long-term career development. With the compression of many fellow training programs from three years to two more fellows are staying on at their institution and working on more complex research projects. To support fellows initiating their own projects or leading a significant component of a larger department project, EFF is restructuring our grant funding program. Similar to NIH/federal grants, awards are based on the quality, relevance, feasibility, and impact of the research proposed; the fellow’s direct learning opportunity, with consideration given for the applicant's experience; and the autonomy of the fellow’s work if the submitted project is part of a larger department or mentor research project. A rigorous peer-reviewed grant process gives a very thorough high-level evaluation and feedback to all fellows who participate. Grant awardees whose projects pass this rigorous review can utilize these projects as springboard to future success in the field, creating our leaders of tomorrow. The grant award will be up to $10,000 depending on the project requirements as outlined in the submitted budget.Eligibility
