Federated Challenge Scholarship

Overview: This scholarship is offered for students pursuing non-four year education programs focusing on apprenticeships, certificates, or associate's degrees at accredited Minnesota post-secondary schools.

Award Amount: $1,000-$5,000 per year, distributed evenly between two semesters following the application deadline.

Geographic Scope: Minnesota (Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in Greater Twin Cities, Central MN, and Southern MN regions)

Eligible Use of Funds:

Eligibility Requirements

• Current or past Little or High School Big for a minimum of 18 months prior to application deadline
• Matched through one of the Minnesota Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies (BBBS of Greater Twin Cities, BBBS of Central MN, or BBBS of Southern MN)
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• High school diploma or GED (or will graduate prior to the term for which applying)
• Enrolled or planning to enroll part-time or full-time in a non-four year program at trade, technical, or community college or accredited Minnesota postsecondary school for apprenticeship, certificate, or associate's degree
• Minimum 2.0 GPA on 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
• Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• Note: Not based on financial need; applicants not qualifying for free/reduced lunch are still eligible

Award Requirements

• Submit all paperwork when requested
• Connect with College Access representative (Ann Matvick) at least once per semester
• Payment distributed after proof of first semester completion
