FCH: Responsive Grant Program: Capacity Building Grant

The FCH Responsive Grant Program offers Capacity Building Grants up to $30,000 to support nonprofits in enhancing their operational infrastructure, scaling, and stabilizing initiatives. Focused on improving community health and equity, the program prioritizes smaller organizations with budgets under $500K. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and municipal agencies that serve the Foundation for Community Health's 17-town region in northwest Connecticut. Applications are accepted annually through two grant cycles.

Our Focus Areas
It takes many strategies to address the living conditions affecting health, well-being, and equity.
Our objectives are to increase the stability, effectiveness, and resilience of nonprofits, to meet mission and community need, and to increase the capacity of smaller agencies.
Through this grant program, the foundation will accept requests up to $30,000 for needs related to:

• Operational infrastructure
• Scaling a program or initiative
• Stabilizing a program or initiative

FCH accepts applications to the Capacity Building Grant program, through two grant cycles. Organizations requesting $30,000 can apply once annually to either grant cycle. Organizations requesting under $30,000 annually are welcome to apply to either or both grant cycles.

Eligibility

We fund:Eligible organizations must be 501(c)3 organizations OR initiatives with a 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor who serve one or multiple towns within FCH’s community that have alignment with the foundation’s funding interests. State and municipal agencies are also eligible to apply.Organizations or initiatives consistent with the mission, vision, values, and funding priorities of the foundation.Foundation for Community Health serves a rural 17-town region where northwest Connecticut and the Greater Harlem Valley meet.Organizations or projects need to benefit residents in our geographic area

Ineligibility

Proposals from organizations that do not meet the eligibility criteria or have received funding through FCH’s Multi-Year General Operating Support Program will not be considered for funding through this program.We do not fund:Organizations or projects that do not benefit residents in our geographic area
Individuals, Endowments, Private Foundations, Service Clubs or Membership Organizations
Fundraising events, including direct mail campaigns
Debt retirement, operating deficits, or after-the-fact support
Programs by faith-based institutions that have a spiritual and/or theological component
Organizations or projects that unlawfully discriminate with regard to employees, volunteers, delivery of programs or services, or clients served based on age, sex, religion/creed, race, color, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, marital status, military or veterans’ status, pregnancy, genetic information or any other basis
