Emergent Grants

BCF understands that projects and emergencies arise that cannot be accommodated by the annual grant cycle. A small pool of funding is reserved for these types of applications.

Geographic Scope: Branford, Connecticut

Eligible Applicants:

• 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations
• 170(c)(1) governmental agencies

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must clarify why the application was not submitted through the Competitive Grant process. Qualifications for emergent grant review include:

• An innovative concept or new to the Branford community
• A situation in which the organization can't operate or move forward on a significant initiative without emergency funding
• The need or concept arises after the grant deadline

What BCF Will NOT Fund:

• Debt reduction
• Endowments
• Individuals
• Lobbying
• Political organizations and campaigns
• Funding to replace government funding sources

Review Timeline:

• Rolling basis starting May 15th

Application Process

Steps to Apply:

1. Contact Program Director with questions
2. Explain why application was not submitted through Competitive Grant process
3. Clarify the emergency or innovative nature of the request
4. Submit through online grant portal

Review Timeline:

• Applications reviewed on a rolling basis starting May 15th

Required Materials:

• Clear explanation of emergency/innovation
• Justification for why it couldn't be submitted in regular cycle
• Final reports from any previous BCF grants
