Background: Since 1968 (50+ years), the Fine Arts Work Center Fellowship has become one of the leading residency programs in the world. Over 1,000 Fellows have been hosted. Alumni include multiple Pulitzer Prize winners, National Book Award winners, Prix de Rome scholars, Whiting Award recipients, Guggenheim Fellows, and a Nobel Prize in Literature recipient. Visual artists have exhibited at Venice Biennale, MoMA, Whitney, New Museum, MASS MoCA, and other major venues.
