Purpose
Created in honor of F.G. Wood, one of the Society's founding members who was a strong proponent of the importance of students in marine mammalogy. The award recognizes excellence in scholarship by students.
Award Criteria
- Awarded for the best student paper published in the Society's journal Marine Mammal Science during the two-year period between conferences
- Recipient delivers a plenary talk at the Biennial Conference
