Program Description

Karma for Cara recognizes leaders in service and unsung heroes through the Excellence in Nursing Award program. The award honors nurses who demonstrate exceptional skills, compassion, caring nature, and dedication to their patients and hospitals.

    Award Recipients

    The program has expanded beyond its original focus to include nurses at multiple institutions:
  • Johns Hopkins Hospital (historically awarded during Kimmel Cancer Center One Night, One Show, One Cause annual event)
  • R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at University of Maryland Medical Center

Prize

Crystal bowl award (donated by Radcliffe Jewelers)

Why This Award Matters

According to Eric Becker, "Cara knew and appreciated the incredible role that highly trained and committed nurses play in patient care. She was very concerned that her nurses felt appreciated and recognized as heroes. We are proud to carry on her wish in recognizing leaders in service."
