Karma for Cara Microgrants empowers students aged 18 and under to bring their service project ideas to life with funding up to $1,000. Founded in honor of Cara Becker, who inspired community service during her own health journey, the program supports a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving local communities across the U.S. Students are encouraged to demonstrate creativity and community involvement, with grants awarded quarterly to fuel their impactful projects.Overview
Karma for Cara Foundation Karma for Cara Foundation was founded by 21-year-old Cara Becker and her family. At the time, Cara was being treated for leukemia. The concept of Karma for Cara was literally created in Cara’s hospital room. What began as a couple of blood drives quickly grew into much more. As the best way to honor Cara’s legacy and support young citizen leaders nationwide, in 2016 K4C focused its efforts on the Microgrant Program, Cara Cookie Volunteers and other books for young children related to service, and the Inspired to Serve Program for students. Why We Exist To support young people nationwide in their efforts to contribute to our society and help repair the world through volunteerism and community service. Karma for Cara Microgrants The K4C Microgrant Program is the bridge between ideas and action. By providing microgrants in varying amounts up to $1,000, K4C helps young citizen leaders execute and magnify their initiatives to help repair our world. Students 18 years of age and under may apply for funds between $250 and $1,000 to complete service projects in their communities throughout the United States. Whether you plan to turn a vacant lot into a community garden, rebuild a school playground or help senior citizens ready their homes for the winter, we want to hear what project you’re passionate about. We fund microgrant applications supporting a wide variety of projects and events; evidence of your creativity and ingenuity only serves to fuel the likelihood that your application will be successfully funded. Microgrants are awarded four times a year. If applying on behalf of an entire class or student group, please designate a maximum of three student leaders to be the main points of contact for the project.Eligibility

While we understand the need for purchasing items to donate to others, microgrant projects should involve more than just purchasing items and donating them. Are you transforming the items you purchase into something else that can be used in a variety of ways? Are you bringing students together to pack/organize/make something out of what you purchase?Ineligibility
