Evidence-Based Dentistry (EBD) Faculty and Practice Awards

Overview: Honors educators and clinicians who have made significant contributions to implement and advance evidence-based dentistry in research, practice, and the classroom.

Sponsor: Supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Colgate, established by the ADA and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR).

Award Details:

Amount: $1,000 honorarium plus commemorative plaque

Recognition: Winners honored at the Changemakers Celebration during SmileCon

Selection: Committee composed of ADA Council on Scientific Affairs Clinical Excellence Subcommittee, AADOCR representation, and non-voting Colgate participant

Award Categories

#### Accomplished Faculty Award
Eligibility:

Membership in ADA or AADOCR

Fifteen years or more as full-time or part-time faculty at accredited U.S. university

Leadership role in bringing new EBD research or educational program to school, OR leadership role in developing EBD resources for profession

#### Mid-Career Faculty Award
Eligibility:

Membership in ADA or AADOCR

Five to 15 years as full-time or part-time faculty at accredited U.S. university

Completion of EBD project within past two years, OR authorship on EBD-related project (evidence summary, systematic review, evidence-based guideline, dissemination and implementation research) accepted by peer-reviewed publication

#### Practice Award
Eligibility:

ADA membership

Seventy percent of work in clinic providing direct patient care

Completion of EBD project within past two years, OR demonstrated leadership in implementing EBD to improve patient care in private practice or public health setting

Status: 2025 nomination period closed; winners to be announced shortly.

- Verification that nominee meets all award eligibility criteria
- Contact information for nominee (and nominator if different)
- Letter of reference from colleague, dental school dean, department head, or other profession leader describing nominee's relevant contributions and depth/breadth of professional accomplishments
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) for nominee

2. Important Notes:
- This is a one-time award; winners are ineligible to apply again
- Nominees are not carried over year to year
- Prior-year nominees must reapply for consideration
- Submit via nomination portal during open nomination period
