The Eugene Salvati, MD, Limited Project Grant is offered in odd numbered years. The primary mission of the Research Foundation of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons is to raise and award funds to support and advance research related to colorectal disease. Over more than twenty years, the Research Foundation has awarded over $6 million to colorectal surgeons and researchers to investigate a broad spectrum of colorectal diseases and to develop novel surgical techniques pertinent to the care of colorectal patients. Eugene Salvati, MD, Limited Project Grant Before his passing, the former residents, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Eugene Salvati, established an endowed research fund to honor his many years of commitment to the education of colorectal residents and the care of colorectal surgery patients. Dr. Salvati wished for this fund to be utilized to support clinical research that would directly improve the care of colorectal surgery patients. To that end, a Limited Project Grant (LPG) will be offered every other year via the Research Foundation of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. The goal is to provide investigators the opportunity to pursue research interests, specifically germane to the field of colon and rectal surgery. It is anticipated that successful research projects, initially funded through the Research Foundation’s LPG mechanism, will ultimately secure funding from other national funding agencies. Funding Up to $25,000 for 1 year. LPG award may be funded in whole or in part.No consortium/contractual arrangements will be allowed with collaborating organizations.Salary support for the Primary Investigator is not permitted.LPG funding is limited to “Direct Cost Only” budgets. Additional indirect costs will not be approved.
