What we Stand for:

Essex County Community Foundation inspires philanthropy that strengthens the communities of Essex County by managing charitable assets, strengthening and supporting nonprofits, and engaging in strategic community leadership initiatives.

Our ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life in the 34 towns and cities of Essex County.

Essex County Land and Environment Initiative

The Essex County Land and Environment Initiative (ECLEI) seeks to improve the quality of life for Essex County residents by promoting the conservation and stewardship of land as open and green spaces in Essex County.  Specifically, funds may be used to:

* Acquire land for open/green space and passive recreational use

* Increase access to and quality of open and green spaces by building, improving, and/or maintaining supportive infrastructure

Funding

Applicants are invited to apply for grants of up to $25,000.

Eligibility

* Applicants must have 501(c)(3) tax status under the IRS tax code and serve Essex County residents.
* We will look for the following:
* Clear organizational mission and vision
* Strong leadership that is diverse, inclusive, and representative of the community that the organization serves
* Clear articulation of the opportunity, how funding would be used, and desired impact
* Ability, expertise, and relationships to accomplish the proposed work and demonstrably improve the health and well-being of Essex County residents, particularly in communities of color that have been historically and structurally under-resourced

* ECCF is committed to non-discrimination.

Ineligibility

* ECLEI grants will not be awarded:
* To individuals.
* For sectarian or religious purposes.
* For political purposes.
* For debt or deficit reduction.
* For capital campaigns for buildings or endowment.
