Overview

The ESEB under-represented ECR achievement award offers two annual grants of €2,000 to early-career researchers who have overcome significant challenges, such as disabilities or social persecution, in their academic pursuits. Open to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers without permanent positions, this award encourages applications from all countries. Awardees must be ESEB members and are required to provide a summary of their achievements for promotion on the ESEB platform.

Two annual awards of €2,000 will highlight the achievements of under-represented early-career researchers (ECRs) who have faced difficult circumstances while conducting their work. Applicable difficult circumstances may be but are not limited to disabilities, social/cultural/political persecution, refugee status, single parenting or other caring responsibilities that have created unequal opportunities. This year’s awardees will also be invited to speak at the ESEB Hub Congress in 2027 in the location nearest to the professional base of the awardee.
