Supports electric vehicle and equipment replacement or repower projects of the following vehicles and equipment:1992-2009 Engine Model Year Class 4-8 Local Freight Trucks 1992-2009 Engine Model Year Class 4-8 School, Shuttle, or Transit Buses pre-Tier 4 Freight Switchers operating at least 1,000 hours/yearpre-Tier 3 Airport Ground Support Equipment Forklifts with a Lift Capacity Greater than 8,000 lbspre-Tier 3 Ferries or Tugboats

Notes

All projects are required to utilize all-electric technology for replacements or repowers and the vehicles and engines to be replaced must be scrapped (permanently disabled). Repower in this context means to replace an existing engine with a newer, cleaner engine or power source and may include, but is not limited to, diesel engine replacement with an electric power source (e.g., grid or battery), diesel engine replacement with a fuel cell, and diesel engine replacement with an electric generator(s) (genset). Charging infrastructure can be included with electric replacement or repower projects; however, additional justification for applications seeking inclusion of DC Fast Charging must be provided.Documentation must be provided for each highway vehicle being replaced showing current valid Vermont vehicle registration and continuous certification of inspection. Exceptions may be made for certain farm and yard trucks.Use of this grant for fleet expansion is not permitted.By the end of the grant term, awardees must provide a copy of their newly adopted idling reduction policy or updated idling reduction policy tailored to fit their business operation, which complies with Vermont statute, 23 V.S.A. § 1110.
