ENERGY – Municipal Energy Revolving Fund (MERF)

  This 0% interest loan supports projects that increase energy efficiency, reduce fossil fuel usage, and/or support renewable energy integration in municipally-owned buildings. Example projects include energy resiliency assessments, equipment replacement, studies, weatherization, construction, and use of renewable resources.

Notes

  For technical assistance, please reach out to your local Regional Planning Commission (RPC). Municipalities are required to pay off loans in their entirety within 10 years of receiving loan funds. All buildings proposed to be upgraded or improved via MERF funds must have received a Level II energy assessment within the last 5 years. If the subject building has not had a Level II energy assessment, the applicant may apply to use MERF loan funding to pay for an energy assessment and associated energy efficiency projects.
