Background

Since 2000, the En Ka Society has awarded over $1,000,000 in more than 400 grants. The En Ka Society is a volunteer non-profit organization comprised of women in Winchester whose objective is to provide aid through volunteer services and fundraising for local charities, non-profit organizations and other groups that serve the people of Winchester.

Geographic Scope

Winchester, Massachusetts - Grants are available exclusively for organizations serving the Winchester community and Winchester residents.

Focus Areas

En Ka strives to support projects that address the needs of community members of all ages, including:
• Students and youth programs
• Senior residents support
• Parents and caregivers services
• Physically and mentally challenged individuals
• Non-profit organizations devoted to providing:
- Community enrichment - Health and social services

Funding Guidelines

En Ka CONSIDERS Funding:

New program initiatives

Modest capital requests

Non-profit organizations whose primary purpose is providing direct services

Requests that demonstrate benefits to Winchester residents

Grant requests from $50 up to $10,000

Grant requests in excess of $10,000 (contact Grants Committee Chair)

En Ka DOES NOT Fund:

Salaries and fixed operating expenses

Transportation expenses

Materials and supplies that support day-to-day operations

Requests from individual elementary schools (joint applications from all town elementary schools acceptable for equity purposes)

Organizations whose primary purpose is awarding financial grants

Funding Policy

• Each grant reviewed on its own merits within guidelines
• Only one grant per organization per fiscal year (September 1 - August 31)
• Previously declined requests may be resubmitted
• If multiple requests submitted, only one will be considered
• Grants may be recommended for full or partial funding or denied
• Applicants notified approximately 4 weeks from deadline
• Granted money must be applied within 6-9 months from issuance date; remaining funds must be returned to En Ka
• En Ka reserves right to request report on grant utilization
• Approved grants are publicized; recipients encouraged to participate in En Ka Fair Parade
• Public acknowledgment appreciated
