Emerging Optical Leaders (EOL) Program

Overview: The Vision Council Foundation's Emerging Optical Leaders program strives to identify the next generation of optical industry leaders through networking, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities.

Focus Areas: Leadership development, professional networking, and industry engagement for emerging optical industry professionals

Program Structure:

  • In-Person Meetings: At The Vision Council's annual Executive Summit, Vision Expo East, or Vision Expo West

  • Virtual Meetings: Throughout the year, EOLs are invited to attend virtual meetings and events

  • Networking Events: Ongoing community building among EOL members
  • Core Pillars: EOL members select and contribute to one or more of three core pillars:

      Engagement & Participation

    • Builds community among EOL members
    • Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and participation of committee members

      Continuous Development

    • Creates and executes leadership development opportunities and events
    • Past initiatives include:
    • - Private workshops with keynote speakers at Vision Council events - Panel-style fireside chats with prominent industry leaders - Leadership training sessions at Vision Council's Executive Summit - EOL mentorship program

      Contribution to The Vision Council

    • Provides insight and feedback to The Vision Council on strategic direction and industry challenges
    • Consults and supports various committees within The Vision Council

    Mentorship Program:

  • Cornerstone of the EOL program

  • Members learn from experienced professionals in the industry

  • Time commitment: Less than 2 hours per month

  • Available resources: Mentee and Mentor workbooks
  • Leadership: Program is led by a steering committee that ensures viability and alignment with The Vision Council

    How to Apply

    How to Join the EOL Program

    1. Review the EOL Nomination Form to understand requirements and expectations
    2. Submit nomination - Contact Aaron Liener for information on nomination process
    3. Selection: Members are selected through nomination process
    4. Onboarding: Selected members participate in program orientation
    5. Engagement: Choose which core pillar(s) to contribute to based on interests and abilities
    6. Participation: Attend in-person meetings (at Vision Council events), virtual meetings, and networking events throughout the year

    Mentorship Participation (Optional):

  • EOL members can sign up annually to participate in the mentorship program

  • Work with experienced industry professionals

  • Less than 2 hours per month commitment

  • Access to mentee and mentor workbooks provided
