Program Details

• Supplements emergency food and shelter programs in high-need areas
• Distributed through a National Board chaired by FEMA with representatives from American Red Cross, Catholic Charities USA, National Council of Churches, Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army, and United Way Worldwide
• Local Board determines distribution and recommends agencies
• During most recent cycle, distributed funds to 7 local organizations providing approximately 330,175 meals and emergency assistance to 25 individuals

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be private voluntary non-profits or units of government
• Must be eligible to receive Federal funds
• Must have an accounting system
• Must practice nondiscrimination
• Must have demonstrated capacity to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs
• If private voluntary organization, must have a voluntary board
