Elk County Community Foundation The Elk County Community Foundation was established in the late 1990s by local business and civic leaders, with support from the Stackpole-Hall Foundation, to create a permanent funding source for the long-term benefit of Elk County. Incorporated in 2000 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2001, the Foundation provides a personalized and strategic approach to philanthropy that enhances the quality of life across the region. Guided by its mission to strengthen the region through development, stewardship, and grantmaking, the Foundation works with donors to fulfill their charitable goals, supports nonprofits through grant opportunities, and administers scholarships to help students pursue higher education. The Foundation is committed to helping donors create meaningful, lasting impact in Elk County—now and for generations to come. Elk County Community Fund Grants The Foundation generally looks to support community development initiatives that will enhance the economic and community wellbeing of Elk County.  Distribution from the grants can be used to meet special project or program needs of organizations serving the people of Elk County. The Foundation encourages organizations that will serve a particular need of the community and will make a lasting impact on the overall community to apply.  The Foundation seeks to fund projects or activities that will serve the needs of many in the community rather than the needs of a few individuals.  Projects should include activities that are innovative and have a plan to be sustained themselves.
