Overview
EIU Community Ambassador Scholarship
Geographic Scope: High school seniors from select counties in Central Illinois (Champaign, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, Richland, Shelby, or Vermilion county)
Award Amount: $2,000 (one-time)
Purpose: Recognizes individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to higher education and serve as role models in their communities.
Status: Active funding from local businesses and community members. Established in 2017 by Wells Fargo Advisors with $20,000 donation; additional contributions from numerous local donors.
- Must be a high school senior due to graduate in Spring
- Must attend high school in Champaign, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Macon, Moultrie, Piatt, Richland, Shelby, or Vermilion county
- Must be admitted to Eastern Illinois University by March 15
- Must complete online application form and personal statement/essay
- Optional: At least one letter of recommendation from teacher, principal, supervisor, or mentor
