Educator Grants

Purpose: Fund projects or initiatives that aim to raise awareness, knowledge and understanding of birds and the habitats and complex food webs which support them

Geographic Scope: Northern California (Nevada, Placer, Yuba, Plumas, and El Dorado Counties)

Eligibility

• Schools and teachers
• Must have a clear project plan that aligns with SFAS mission to educate the public about conserving and restoring natural ecosystems that focus on birds and their habitats

Eligible Funding Uses

• Bird boxes
• Binoculars
• Field guides
• Transportation costs
• Online training packages from Cornell Labs
• Materials for students from the National Audubon Society
• Research expenses
• Project materials and supplies
• Other direct project costs

Review Process

• Applications accepted at any time
• Reviewed within 60 days of submission
• An itemized budget must be submitted with the application
• Post-purchase receipts should be submitted
• Photographs of students using purchased materials or services are appreciated
• Letters from students are appreciated

Application Process

1. Complete the Sierra Foothills Audubon Society Educator Grant Application form
2. Submit an itemized budget with the application
3. Submit the application at any time (rolling basis)
4. Applications will be reviewed within 60 days of submission
5. Upon approval and project completion, submit post-purchase receipts
6. Optionally include photographs of students using materials/services and letters from students

Award Range: $50 - $500
