Farmington Bank Community Foundation, which continues the 167 year legacy of the former Farmington Bank, provides financial support to non-profit organizations and community programs that help create opportunities for a better life by focusing on economic opportunities, health, and basic needs for the residents of sixteen communities in Central Connecticut.
Economic Empowerment and Sustainability
To foster pathways from poverty to prosperity for individuals and families in our communities, and to encourage diverse and robust neighborhood and community economies. Priority will be given to organizations that:
* Enhance, improve opportunities for quality employment and career prospects.
* Assist an individual or household to achieve financial security.
* Support development of a range of affordable housing options in all communities
* Improve skills and knowledge of households to make informed and effective decisions with their financial resources.
* Support the process of designing, launching and running a new business

Requests that support the process of designing, launching and running a new business; efforts to improve the financial skills of households to make informed and effective decisions and supporting development of a range of affordable housing options.
Eligibility

* Programs must primarily serve residents in one or more of the following towns of Hartford County CT:
* Avon, Berlin, Bloomfield, Bristol, Burlington
* Canton, Farmington, Hartford, Newington, New Britain
* Plainville, Rocky Hill, Simsbury, Southington
* West Hartford and Wethersfield
* Organizations must be tax exempt under IRS section 501(c)(3).
* Religious institutions are not eligible, except for non-sectarian activities that benefit the community at-large.
Ineligibility
* Endowment funds are not eligible.
* Individuals are not eligible
* Before submitting a request, please review the list of ineligible activities and purposes. Regarding sponsorships: the Foundation will not accept requests for event sponsorships or other marketing initiatives, even if those events benefit a non-profit organization. A full list of activities and purposes which the Foundation will not fund are below.
* Animal causes
* Beauty contests
* Capital campaigns, annual appeals and operational fund raising campaigns.
* Debt reduction
* Disease specific organizations and activities
* Endowment Funds
* Feasibility studies
* Fundraisers including dinners, galas, golf tournaments, road races etc.
* Individuals
* Individual schools in a public school system
* Medical equipment, patient treatment funds, etc.
* Municipal entities
* Traditional Nursery Schools
* Organizations that discriminate service based on race, religion, etc.
* Organizations serving a limited constituency
* PAC’s
* Parent Teacher Organizations or Associations
* Political, labor or fraternal organizations
* Private Foundations
* Private schools and colleges
* Private scholarships
* Public School Districts and Public Schools (including Charter & Magnet Schools)
* Theater, dance and music programs that focus primarily on the arts rather than youth development
* Religious organizations, unless supporting non-sectarian broad based community issues
* Sports, athletic events, or programs
* Student trips/tours(including transportation and conference costs)
* Television, radio, film, video, book productions
* Team sponsorships
* Third parties raising funds for a charity
* Yearbook Ads
