Overview: A flexible funding source established by the Elgin Community College Foundation to help students facing financial hardship, particularly those impacted by crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Established in March 2020 shortly after Illinois' stay-at-home order. The fund was created to support students most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Within one month, over 100 donors contributed to help reach a fundraising goal of over $50,000, beginning with a generous donation of over $12,000 from the ECC Foundation Board of Directors.

Key Advantages: The fund provides flexibility that other funding sources (such as federal CARES Act funding) do not offer. Over 50% of ECC students are ineligible for federal CARES Act funding, making this relief fund critical to ensure no student is left behind.
