Earl Woods Scholarship Program

A scholarship and mentoring program for college students from low-income, underserved areas, with a focus on first-generation college students pursuing STEM and other fields of study.

Program Components:

• Scholarship funding for college tuition and expenses
• Mentorship throughout college years (students are five times more likely to graduate with an adult mentor)
• Annual Winter Workshop bringing scholars together for networking, professional development, and skill-building
• Resume reviews and public speaking for freshman/sophomore scholars
• Career placement, graduate school preparation, and mock interviews for junior/senior scholars
• Networking with business leaders and professionals
• Wardrobe workshops for job interview preparation
• Post-graduation alumni network and continued mentoring support

Eligibility:

• Students from low-income areas
• First-generation college students (87% of participants)
• Currently enrolled in or admitted to four-year universities
• Demonstrated academic potential and commitment to education

Program Statistics (as of 2014-2016):

• 69 current students and 40+ alumni (as of 2014)
• Students attending 74+ universities nationwide
• Average GPA: 3.23
• 87% are first-generation scholars
