Dr. Booker T. DeVaughn and Dr. Elena L. Haynes DeVaughn Endowed Scholarship Fund Grant

The Dr. Booker T. DeVaughn and Dr. Elena L. Haynes DeVaughn Endowed Scholarship Fund, established by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, aims to support African-American students from Greater Hartford in pursuing undergraduate degrees. Since 1945, this fund has contributed to the scholarship program, which has awarded nearly $30 million to local students. Eligibility

Selection CriteriaMust be African American/Black, male or female.
Hartford residents attending public schools.
Have graduated from a high school in the Greater Hartford regionAre graduating high school seniors entering college and pursuing an undergraduate degree on a full-time basis
Are college undergraduates pursuing an undergraduate degree or a student pursuing a graduate degree who meet the other award criteria if there are no qualifying high school seniors.
Have achieved academic success in high school and show promise of continued academic achievement at a college level.
Need financial aid in order to attend college.
Have been involved with volunteer, community service, and/or extracurricular activities.
