Doug Baldwin Student Scholarship Program

Overview: A partnership between Bloodworks Northwest, the Family First Community Center Foundation, Doug Baldwin, Boon Boona Coffee, and Arts Unlimited of Renton to provide students with opportunities to cultivate leadership skills, bolster the community blood supply, and earn money for college.

Geographic Scope: Washington state (Pacific Northwest focus)

  • High school and college students

  • Must be able to recruit blood donors during assigned two-week virtual drive period
  • How It Works:

  • Students are assigned a two-week virtual drive period

  • Students recruit blood donors to give at Bloodworks Pop-Up Locations or Donor Centers

  • Students receive a custom recruitment code

  • For each donor recruited, contributions are made by: Bloodworks Northwest, Doug Baldwin, Family First Community Center Foundation, Boon Boona Coffee, and Arts Unlimited of Renton

  • Students are paired with a coach for guidance on outreach and recruitment planning

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Students register for the program and receive assignment of a two-week virtual drive period
    2. Students are given a custom recruitment code to share with donors
    3. Students are paired with a coach who guides them through:
    - Creating an outreach plan
    - Recruitment strategy development
    - Step-by-step implementation support
    4. Students recruit eligible donors during their assigned two-week period
    5. Donors use the student's code when making appointments at Bloodworks locations
    6. Scholarship funds accumulate based on successful donor recruitments
