Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation: Education Grant

The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation aims to enhance educational opportunities and outcomes for individuals and communities in Arizona. They focus on funding initiatives that increase access to quality education, especially for low-income students. The foundation prioritizes innovative programs that promote student achievement, college access, and leadership development. Eligible organizations must have 501(c)(3) status, a minimum annual budget, and demonstrate strong management and community engagement.

NOTE: Applying for a Halle Foundation Grant is a two-stage process:
Schedule a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) Discussion with Halle Foundation Staff as you prepare and submit your LOI for consideration. Following that discussion you will have 2–4 weeks to submit your LOI. You will be notified via email 2-4 weeks later if your LOI is approved, and what concept(s) are approved to submit a full Application.Submit a full Application for the concept(s) selected by the Halle Foundation for further consideration. The Halle Foundation Staff will conduct an organizational interview pertaining to the application followed by a review of the application with the Board of Directors. You will be notified via phone and/or email of the Board’s decision.

Education Funding Priorities
The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation funds educational institutions and initiatives to help increase access to high quality education and training particularly for lower income students.
Criteria
You should be prepared to demonstrate and discuss:
Strong leadership and managementA qualified, engaged, and supportive board of directorsEffective financial managementA funding model that supports your infrastructure and programs with appropriate cash reservesA well-trained and supported staffA process to solicit and utilize client/constituent feedbackA board of directors and staff that reflect the diversity of people and key interests of the communities you servePrograms and services that are responsive to the cultural and linguistic needs of your clients constituentsAn effective strategy to accomplish your mission that results in positive and desirable outcomesA capacity to measure impact and learn from your resultsAn ability to identify and adapt to internal and external changes

Eligibility

To be considered for a grant, an organization:Must be in operation and have 501(c)(3) status for at least three (3) years, preferably five (5) years.Must have filed a Form 990 tax return with the IRS within the last year.Must have audited financial statements by an independent accountant within the last (18) months.Must be headquartered in Arizona, with the majority of staff, services provided, and requested funding in Arizona.Must have an annual cash budget of a minimum of $500,000, preferably $1,000,000 or more.Must be mission aligned with The Diane and Bruce Halle Foundation’s funding pillars and priorities.Must have a conversation with Diane & Bruce Halle Foundation Staff prior to any submission.If a grant request is unsuccessful, an organization must wait a minimum of one year from the date of declination before reapplying.Current grantees are eligible to apply again after the completion of their current grant timeframe and the foundation receiving their final report.Organizations that had an LOI or Application declined must wait a minimum of one (1) year from the decision date before the Halle Foundation will consider another request.

Ineligibility

We do not fund grants for:Organizations that discriminate in the delivery of programs and services on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, or disabilityInfluencing legislation and/or elections; for political candidates, political campaignsSocial or political issues outside the United StatesIndividualsFundraising dinners or eventsAnimal welfareNational organizations that do not have local chapters in ArizonaConsumer interest
