Dexter C. Hobbs Memorial Scholarship Grant

The Dexter C. Hobbs Memorial Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Montgomery County high schools who embody the moral qualities of Dexter C. Hobbs. Preference is given to participants of the Montgomery STEP program. The scholarship is need-based, requiring students to demonstrate their motivation to succeed in college through involvement in school, church, and community activities. Recipients can reapply for funding for up to three additional years.

Central Alabama Community Foundation
CACF was created to provide a permanent charitable resource dedicated to strengthening nonprofits and meeting local needs in the Montgomery area. Through a variety of funds, CACF supports projects and programs in education, health, human services, cultural arts, recreation, historic preservation, and other civic concerns. Every year, CACF awards grants to nonprofit projects and programs providing services in Lee, Macon, and Montgomery counties.
The Dexter C. Hobbs Memorial Scholarship was established to benefit graduating high school seniors of any Montgomery County high school who emulate the outstanding moral qualities and commitment of the late Dexter C. Hobbs, with preference given to active participants of the Montgomery STEP program. While based on need, students must indicate by their involvement in school, church and community activities the ability and motivation to graduate from college. Students who receive a scholarship their freshman year of college may annually reapply for up to three additional years.
