History: Named in honor of Cadet 1st Class Dennis P. Rando of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, who passed away in the 1990s. Founded by the USAFA Cadets Parents' Association of Eastern Massachusetts under leadership of Bob Caggiano. Became a national fundraising effort at request of Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Paul Stein '66.

Administration: Since August 2012, the Rando Fund has been an affiliate of the Air Force Academy Foundation. The advisory board volunteers their time, and the Foundation assumes all administrative costs, allowing 100% of donations to support the fund's missions.
