Overview

The Delta Dental of Idaho oral health grant program funds work that improves the dental infrastructure and workforce capacity in Idaho, improves access to affordable, timely, high-quality dental health care, and reduces oral disease through education, prevention and treatment. Grants can be awarded for capacity building, capital and equipment, and programs and special projects.

Preference is given to proposals focused on increasing access to care in rural Idaho and in dental health profession shortage areas, and to proposals that improve oral health among underserved populations.

Minimum and maximum grant amounts depend on the cycle and are announced before the application opens. Previous maximums have ranged between $25,000 and $100,000, and the largest award to date has been $75,000. Approved grants are for a single year of support.

There are two cycles a year. The fall 2026 cycle is open: the application was available for preview from 10 September, opened 1 October and closes 20 October at 11:59pm, with decisions in early December and funding beginning 1 January 2027. In the spring cycle the application is available for preview from 1 March, opens 1 April and closes 21 April at 11:59pm, with decisions in early June and funding beginning 1 July.

How to Apply

To be eligible you must serve individuals in the state of Idaho, and you must either be a public charity exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or be a city, county, public health district, public school district, public charter school, not-for-profit institution of higher education, tribal government, the State of Idaho or an instrumentality of the state, or a similar entity or organization that serves the public on a not-for-profit basis.

Submit the completed application and any requested supporting documents through the online application system by the deadline. Once a cycle is announced, the detailed funding guidelines, evaluation criteria and the application itself are available on the online platform. A grant review team evaluates each application and decides whether funding will be awarded.
