DEI United Fund

Status: Active initiative launched by UWCNM and Albuquerque Community Foundation

Geographic Scope: Four counties served by UWCNM and ACF (Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance, and Valencia counties)

Focus Areas:

Support, promote, and advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practices

Foster change leading to more equitable, racially just, and sustainable solutions

Systems change and social justice

Race equity and racial justice solutions

Activities and Programs:

Community Conversations

• Series of community conversations to inform philanthropic approaches to race equity and social justice
• Discussions about community aspirations, concerns, and visions for the future
• Held over multiple months

Training and Education

• Training offered to community leaders and decision-makers across sectors
• Educational support to strengthen actions embedding equitable practices in organizations

Organizational Development

• Support for range of DEI practices
• Focus on building diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizational practices

Initial Funding: Provided by PNM, UWCNM, and ACF

Organizational Commitment:

UWCNM DEI Committee hosting staff focus groups and "Equity Learning Group"

ACF DEI Committee comprised of Board of Trustees, community members, and staff

Focus on anti-racist organizational practices

Examination of how philanthropy contributes to inequitable systems
