Overview

Founding Chi Psi was founded on May 20, 1841 at Union College in Schenectady, NY. The eighth fraternity founded in the United States and the fifth at Union itself, Chi Psi was unique, being the first fraternity to be founded upon principles of Brotherhood and as a social fraternity. Dedicated Fund (DF) Grants DF Grant requests can be made at any time by a Chi Psi alumni entity for the educational benefit of an Alpha. Grant requests that are in order and which do not exceed an Alpha’s DF balance, will be reviewed and decided upon within two weeks. Funding will be distributed within two weeks of Grant approval. DF Grants Committee A Committee of three (3) Trustees appointed by the Chair shall review and consider all DF Grant Request Applications that are properly submitted to the Central Office via chipsi.org. This committee shall have the authority to approve all requests so long as all the questions on the above grant checklist are ‘yes.’ The Central Office shall work with requesting entities to rectify any issues preventing approval. All requests not approved by the DF Grants Committee shall be reviewed and considered at the next meeting of the Trust. Dedicated Fund Grants The amount of DF Grant requests must be at or below the Alpha's DF available balance. Applications, with Grant requests within the ALpha's DF available funds, may be received at any time and will be reviewed and considered within three weeks by the Trust's DF Grants Committee. The Central Office will inform the requesting entity of the outcome of deliberations as soon as it is known. Funds will be processed and distributed to approved requesting entities within two weeks of the approval of requests.
