There are a variety of grant programs offered through the Community Foundation. Emergency Grants Emergency Grants assist nonprofit organizations and community governmental organizations with urgent funding needs created by an unforeseen event that significantly interrupts essential services. Emergencies do not include circumstances where routine maintenance or planned capital equipment replacement could have prevented the emergency.

While the Community Foundation remains flexible in considering urgent needs, Emergency Grants are not generally awarded for: General operating expenses.Routine operational costs of projects, programs, and organizations including updating technology.Personnel and/or administrative/overhead costs Meeting budget shortfalls.Capital or operational debt reduction. Providing direct financial assistance to individuals.Costs associated with programs or services provided to citizens outside of DeKalb County, Illinois.Sectarian or religious purposes.Any political campaign or to support attempts to influence legislative issues of a governmental body.Support for transportation, competition, awards, or field trips for school or organizations.
