Overview
David M. Cheney Memorial Scholarship Fund
Focus Areas: Support for University of Maine students
Background: The David M. Cheney Scholarship Fund was created to honor David Cheney's memory and his admiration for life. Cheney was a senior at the University of Maine when he tragically lost his life on November 16, 2012 as a result of a small plane crash in Owls Head. Cheney's family chose to help other students attain a college education at UMaine through this scholarship. Annual fundraising efforts include the David M. Cheney Memorial Golf Tournament, held in October (held in Boxford, MA). The 2013 tournament raised over $16,000, and proceeds exceed that amount in subsequent years.
