Overview
CUTX Member Scholarship Program
Funder: Credit Union of Texas (CUTX)
Award Amount: Three (3) scholarships of $2,500 each
Geographic Scope: United States (applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents)
Focus Areas: Education support for high school seniors, current college students, and members seeking to further their education
Status: Open for 2026 (applications currently being accepted)
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- CUTX Member: Must be a CUTX member with a checking account prior to applying
- Account Status: Account must be in good standing
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
- Educational Acceptance: Must be able to provide a written acceptance letter to an accredited U.S. university or college that will award a degree upon completion
- Academic Performance: High school or college transcripts must reflect a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
- Application Completeness: All required attachments must be submitted; incomplete applications will not be eligible
Ineligible Parties:
Award Distribution
- Funds are paid directly to the recipient's school
- May be used for: tuition, room, board, books, or materials
- Proof of Enrollment: Letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment from educational institution required (may be submitted with application or prior to payment)
Selection Criteria
Recipients are selected based on:
- Academic Performance: Academic honors, class rank, ACT/SAT scores
- Activities: Community and school involvement, leadership positions, awards/recognition
- Essay: Response to assigned topic
Additional Information
Finalists: Selected finalists may be asked to participate in an interview with the CUTX Scholarship Committee

Application Process
Deadline: June 1, 2026
Selection Notification: Finalists will be contacted by July 10, 2026
Required Attachments
All of the following must be submitted with the completed application:
1. Transcripts: Copy of applicant's high school or college transcripts showing GPA (unofficial acceptable)
2. Academic Resume: One document
3. Letters of Recommendation: Two current letters required:
- One from a professional/scholastic reference
- One from a personal reference
- Each letter must include:
- Date
- Name, address, and phone number of referrer
- Statement of how long and in what capacity the referrer knows the applicant
4. Essay: Typed essay with maximum of 2,000 characters
- Topic: "If you could change one thing to better your community, what would it be? Why is it important to you, and how would you contribute to this change?"
Final Round Requirements (if selected as finalist)
If selected for the final judging round, you will need to provide:
1. Official Transcripts: Official school transcripts with school seal (must be current for high school seniors; most recent for other applicants)
2. Acceptance Letter: Acceptance letter to an accredited college or university
3. Interview: Possible interview with CUTX Scholarship Committee
Important Notes
- Applications and attachments will not be returned
- Incomplete applications are ineligible
- All materials must be submitted by the deadline (no late submissions accepted)
