Cultural Vision Grants

Grants respond to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community's interest in arts, science, history and heritage programming. Funds high-quality arts and culture projects that advance specific community goals.

Geographic Scope: Mecklenburg County-based projects

Eligible Applicants:

• Mecklenburg County-based creative individuals
• Nonprofit organizations

Goals Supported:

• Building community by connecting individuals across points of difference
• Building community by nurturing, celebrating, and supporting authentic cultures and creative expression
• Increasing relevance by using arts, science and history to address complex community issues
• Increasing innovation by supporting the creation of new and groundbreaking work

Equity Focus:

• 71% of projects led by and/or serve historically under-resourced communities
• Communities include African, Latin-a/o/x/e, Asian, Arab and Native American (ALAANA), LGBTQ and disability communities

Funding Support:

• Mecklenburg County
• Infusion Fund and its generous donors
• Individual donors to ASC

Background:

• 2021 round (August): 31 recipients received $198,000 in combined funding; 69 applications received
• 2020 round (January): 24 recipients received $136,300 in combined funding; 31 applications received
• Project conclusion typically June 30 following award year
• First-time applicants encouraged
