Overview

Office of Grants Management The office provides assistance to Local Education Agencies (LEAs), other agencies and Department program offices through the establishment and maintenance of systems to plan for, acquire, award and manage grant funds in a fair and equitable manner to support initiatives that promote academic excellence, teacher and leader effectiveness, school innovation and choice, and accountability. Cultivating Ongoing Achievement through Coaching in Literacy (COACH) Year 1 of 5 - Competitive Purpose The Cultivating Ongoing Achievement through Coaching in Literacy (COACH) grant opportunity is a 5 year grant program intended to support LEAs to hire and train literacy coaches who support kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) educators within their schools. The NJDOE will train and support the statewide cohort of literacy coaches selected through the grant opportunity. The NJDOE also anticipates that over the 5-year continuation project term up to 2,400 teachers may be served by literacy coaches within the new network created through this subgrant opportunity. The NJDOE anticipates the COACH grant to result in the following outcomes: Literacy coaches are trained in evidence-based literacy instruction and the NJDOE’s coaching framework; Literacy coaches advance evidence-based literacy instruction for K-12 students through turn-key training and coaching; and Closure of ELA achievement gaps for New Jersey’s K-12 students.
