Crook County Cultural Coalition Grants

Background: Annually since 2002, the Crook County Cultural Coalition has awarded grant funds to art and cultural projects in Crook County. The funds come from the Oregon Cultural Trust, established in 2001. The more local residents donate to the Oregon Cultural Trust, the more Crook County receives for grants.

    Eligible Applicants

  • Crook County-based humanities, heritage, and arts organizations
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Community event organizations
  • For-profit organizations with significant cultural impact (in some cases)

Funding Priorities

Applications must address one or more of the six priorities from the Crook County Cultural Plan:

1. Engage youth in the arts, heritage, and culture
2. Protect the investment in existing cultural resources
3. Provide programs for young adults to further their cultural development
4. Support cultural programs that stimulate economic growth
5. Encourage broader appreciation of cultural traditions of diverse ethnic groups
6. Foster local cultural identity and improve marketing and promotion of cultural activities/opportunities

    Selection Criteria

    The Cultural Coalition evaluates each application based on:
  • Impact of the proposed program
  • Additional support the program has if the grant does not fund it completely
  • Whether it is a new or existing proposal/program
  • Applicant's track record with post-grant reporting

Competitive Edge

Most competitive applications will provide matching resources, either in contributed goods/services or cash funding.

    • Awards are typically presented at a public ceremony at the Crook County Library
    • Grant recipients are recognized and receive checks at awards events
