Geographic Scope: San Francisco Bay Area, California

Overview:
The Creating Queer Community (CQC) Grant supports innovative artistic projects that build LGBTQ community through the arts. Approximately 20 grants are awarded annually.

Focus Areas:

• Projects in any artistic medium
• Community-building through the arts
• LGBTQ artistic expression and cultural development

Eligible Project Types:

• Projects presented as part of the National Queer Arts Festival (NQAF)
• Projects presented as part of QCC's Healthy Communities program
• Artist commissions and performances

Eligibility:

• LGBTQ artists and arts organizations
• Projects that serve the San Francisco Bay Area LGBTQ community

Application Process

Submission Method:

Required Materials:

1. Completed application form
2. One-page project description (maximum, 12pt font)
3. CV or resume (optional but recommended)
4. Links to previous performances/projects (if applicable)
5. Contact information

Application Form Fields:

• Lead Artist name and contact information
• City of Residence
• Website
• Group/Collective Name (if applicable)
• Collaborating Artists and their emails

Project Description Requirements:

• One page maximum, 12pt font
• Describe the project concept
• Explain how the project relates to the current NQAF theme
• Discuss how you will use allocated time to develop the project or advance your career
• Address artistic integrity and originality

Evaluation Criteria:

1. Artistic integrity and originality
2. Project alignment with NQAF theme
3. Project's potential impact on LGBTQ community
4. Applicant's capacity to complete the project

History of Projects:

• Emerging Artist Program features 15-20 minute performance/exhibition segments
• Theme-based selections (past theme: "From Self-Portraiture to Selfie")
