Overview

Corona-Norco USD Student of the Year Scholarship

Funder: Riverside County Office of Education, in partnership with Corona-Norco Unified School District (CNUSD) and Corona-Norco Council Parent Teacher Association

Overview: First-ever Student of the Year awards program organized by RCOE to recognize exceptional graduating seniors from Corona-Norco Unified School District. Program includes monthly Student of the Month recognition throughout the school year, with Student of the Year awards selected from these honorees.

Geographic Scope: Corona, Norco, Eastvale, and Temescal Valley communities, Riverside County, California

Eligible Schools: 10 CNUSD high schools including:

  • Eleanor Roosevelt High School

  • John F. Kennedy Middle College High School

  • Lee V. Pollard High School

  • (Additional CNUSD high schools)
  • Selection Criteria:

  • Academic achievement

  • Resilience in face of challenges

  • Overcoming family hardships

  • Pursuit of post-secondary education goals

  • Community involvement and leadership
  • Award Structure:

  • $2,500 scholarship per Student of the Year recipient

  • 3 recipients for 2024-2025 school year

  • Gold-level sponsorship by Riverside County Second District Supervisor Karen Spiegel

  • Corona-Norco Council Parent Teacher Association (organized in partnership)

    Application Process

    1. School-Level Selection (Prerequisite)
    - CNUSD schools nominate and select Students of the Month throughout school year
    - Recognition events held in: November, January, March
    - Selection criteria: character, integrity, passion for learning, active involvement, resilience

    2. Student of the Year Application
    - All Student of the Month honorees from 10 CNUSD high schools eligible to apply
    - Application materials required (specific requirements not detailed in source material)

    - RCOE selects 3 Students of the Year from all eligible Student of the Month honorees
    - Selection based on:
