Overview:
The law firm of Corey, Luzaich, de Ghetaldi & Riddle LLP established this scholarship to foster the advancement of diversity in the legal profession. The firm, founded in 1964 by George R. Corey, believes that the continuing strength of the legal profession lies in engaging lawyers who bring varying perspectives to the pursuit of justice.

    Award Details

  • Maximum Award: $25,000 per recipient
  • Frequency: Annual
  • Committee Discretion: The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to award a lower amount or award multiple scholarships in any given year

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Completed first year of law school
  • Currently enrolled in second, third, or fourth year
  • Member of a historically underrepresented group in the legal profession
  • Identifying as a person with disabilities, openly LGBTQ, and/or a military veteran
  • Demonstration of financial need
  • Both part-time and full-time students eligible

  • Indicate whether positions are/were paid or unpaid
  • Part Three – Narrative Statements:
    Three essays of 250-500 words each:
    1. Professional career goals
    2. Basis for financial need
    3. How diverse background will benefit the legal profession

    Part Four – Letters of Recommendation:

  • Minimum: 2 letters

  • Maximum: 3 letters

  • At least one letter must be from a professor or past employer
    • Post-Award Requirements

    • Before receiving scholarship funds, recipients must demonstrate enrollment in a Bay Area-based ABA-accredited law school
    • Students who leave law school after being admitted must return all or a proportional amount of scholarship funds
