Core Grants Program

Overview: The Seybert Foundation supports organizations working to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged children and youth in the City of Philadelphia through General Operating Support grants.

Geographic Focus: City of Philadelphia

Funder Background: Established under the Will of Henry Seybert, and chartered in 1914 as the Adam and Maria Sarah Seybert Institution for Poor Boys and Girls of Philadelphia.

Eligibility Requirements

• Mission Fit: Organization's primary target population must be children and youth, and you must provide direct services
• Geographic Focus: The majority of services must be directed to youth in the City of Philadelphia, not the region
• Budget Size: Annual operating budget must be less than $1.5 million (in some cases, programs operating under fiscal sponsorship of umbrella organizations may be eligible regardless of sponsor budget size—contact foundation in advance)
• Required Financials: Must have filed at least one Form 990 with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) exempt organization
• Schools Policy: Foundation discourages applications from schools. While Seybert funds organizations that operate programming in schools, it does not provide operating support for schools themselves.

Grant Details

• Award Amount: $20,000 over a 2-year period ($10,000/year)
• Type: General Operating Support only—do not request funds for specific programs or projects
• Cycle: 2025-2027 cycle closed; next application cycle scheduled to reopen in Spring 2027

Reporting Requirements

• Grantees required to complete interim mid-grant report and final grant report
• Interim Report Due: June 1, 2026 by 5:00 PM ET (for 2025-2027 grantees)
• Final Report: Due at end of second year of funding
