Overview

Core Certificate Program

Overview: A certificate program that equips nonprofit, public, and social impact leaders with the skills, knowledge, and networks to make strategic, mission-driven decisions and effect meaningful change at their organizations.

Target Audience: Nonprofit, public, and social sector executives, directors, and managers

Geographic Scope: New England (Boston, MA), New York City (NY), and Western New York

Program Duration: Year-long certificate program

Key Features:

  • Focus on social justice and supporting women and people of color to step into leadership roles

  • Majority of students identify as BIPOC, with over 60% women

  • More than 1,400 leaders equipped over 13-year history

  • Access to academic faculty and guest instructors

  • Professional network and alumni community
  • Curriculum Components:

  • Management Seminar: Weekly 2-hour sessions (4-6 PM) for 22 sessions with up to 36 students. Topics include:

  • - Financial statement analysis and budgeting
    - Strategy, growth, and evaluation
    - Team development and leadership
    - Organizational culture and change management
    - Marketing and fundraising
    - Board management and development
    - Lecture, case discussion, and small group work

    • Practice Seminar: Weekly 2-hour sessions (6:30-8:30 PM) following Management Seminar in groups of up to 8 students. Facilitated by Senior Fellow with action-oriented problem solving guided by student needs and interests rather than curriculum.
