NOTE: A nomination is due at the deadline. Coral Reef Conservation Award This award is in recognition of a regionally or globally significant contribution to the protection of coral reefs. The candidate’s work may be limited to a single country or part of a country, however, if limited in geographic scope, the outcome of the candidate’s work should be of international importance. A considerable body of achievement over 10 or more years is expected in one or more of the following fields or spread across most or all of them: The establishment and / or management of marine protected areas, The securing at a national or regional scale of other significant measures directed at protecting coral reefs, The promotion through environmental education of widespread public awareness of the need to conserve coral reefs, Research into the scientific, social environmental, and/or economic aspects of coral reef protection and management, Research into or achievement of effective coral reef restoration. Funding Certificate; US$2,500 cash prize to support coral reef activities and marine conservation goals; invitation to present at the following ICRS symposium; invitation to contribute an article to Reef Encounters. ICRS Fellow Status may also be awarded to the successful applicant IF the applicant meets the criteria of this status
