Description:
In collaboration with the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness and with funding from the Templeton World Charity Foundation, COS launched an initiative focused on increasing the use of Registered Reports in consciousness research. Through a competitive grant process, funds were awarded to consciousness researchers who used the Registered Reports process.

Expected Outcomes:

• 30-75 projects anticipated to be funded
• Grant range: $15,000 - $20,000 USD per project
• Individual cap for exceptional proposals: $50,000 USD

Requirements:

• Use Registered Reports model for journal submission
• Engage in open science practices including preregistration
• Open sharing of data, code, and materials
• Submit at participating journals

Application Process

1. Application Period: April 4, 2022 - Summer 2023 (rolling basis until funds exhausted)
2. Submission: Apply at https://www.cos.io/consciousness
3. Eligibility Confirmation: Receive confirmation of eligibility from COS before submitting to journals
4. Journal Submission: Submit at participating journals using Registered Reports model
5. Reviews: Proposals reviewed on rolling basis
