Congregation & Organization Grants

Geographic Scope: Southeastern District (SED), LCMS Mid-Atlantic Region

Overview:
MALIM seeks to fund innovative and creative projects that align with its core values and that reach out to communities and groups in new ways. Grants support mission-focused initiatives that increase outreach and serve underrepresented populations.

Eligibility Criteria:
MALIM evaluates applications considering:

• Will the project increase mission outreach to the community?
• Does the project include ministry to people not traditionally served or new groups not previously reached?
• Target populations may include: people with limited incomes and opportunities, people of color, ethnic groups in the community, frail elders, people with disabilities
• Innovative and creative approaches to community ministry

Application Policy:
MALIM does not accept unsolicited grant applications. Initial inquiries are accepted through the Grant Inquiry Form only. If your proposal meets MALIM's grant criteria, you will be invited to complete a detailed grant application.

• Redeemer Lutheran Church, Richmond, VA - "Wiggle Church" outreach ministry
• Lutheran Servants for Christ - Mobile food ministry trailer
• Lutheran Church of St. Andrew, Silver Spring, MD - Interethnic Community Development Outreach job/career fair

Application Process

1. Submit Grant Inquiry Form with the following information:
   • Congregation/Organization name
   • Location (street address, city, state, ZIP code)
   • Contact person (name, email, phone)
   • Amount of funding requested
   • Brief description of project
2. Wait for Response: If your proposal meets MALIM's grant criteria, you will be contacted via email
3. Complete Full Application: Invited applicants will receive a detailed grant application to complete

Required Information in Inquiry:

• Project name/description
• How it increases mission outreach to the community
• Target population (especially underserved groups)
• Funding amount needed
• Innovation/creative aspects of the project
• Expected outcomes and community impact
