Community Investments Process / Community Impact Grant

Geographic Scope: Livingston County, Michigan

Program Description:
LCUW's annual Community Investments Process provides grant funding to local human service programs. The most recent 2024 cycle recommended an average of 15% increase in funding to 46 local human service programs.

Focus Areas:
Funding supports programs addressing:

• Health and human service needs of the community
• Support for ALICE families (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed)
• Programs serving families living in or near poverty

Process Overview:

• Over 50 community volunteers and leaders participate in reviewing funding requests
• Community Investments Council (CIC) reviews applications and makes recommendations
• Board of Directors approves final grant recommendations
• Program funding typically begins July 1 of new fiscal year

• Applications are scored using LCUW Program Grant Scoring Rubric
• Review panel consists of community volunteers and CIC members

Timeline (2024 example):

• Applications submitted by deadline
• Local Board review occurs during designated review week
• Funded applicants announced within specified timeframe
• Program funding begins July 1
