Community Grants Program

Funder: Rotary Club of Fresno and Fresno Rotary Foundation

Geographic Scope: Greater Fresno area and projects that primarily benefit Fresno residents

Eligibility:

  • Educational organizations

  • Nonprofit charitable organizations

  • Organizations under direction of local organization or local affiliate

  • Projects must be specific and accomplishable in a timely manner

  • Projects for capital equipment eligible
  • Does NOT Fund:

  • Individuals

  • Tax-supported governmental agencies (fire, police) — but will consider special projects for public and private schools

  • Organizations or projects outside greater Fresno area

  • Administration or ongoing operating expenses (training, debt reduction, computer software, office equipment)

  • Political projects or those primarily related to political causes

  • Religious organizations for religious purposes

  • Sabbatical leaves or scholarly research

  • Travel, tours, and trips

  • Endowments and memorials

  • Fundraising events and sponsorships
  • Grant Criteria - Requests must meet one or more:

  • Make significant impact on youth, disadvantaged, or underserved community elements

  • For new tangible projects (not well-funded or well-established projects)

  • For projects in greater Fresno area primarily benefiting Fresno residents

  • Under direction of local organization or local affiliate

  • For capital equipment

  • Provide proven sustainable benefits continuing long after grant disbursement
  • Post-Award Requirements:

  • Sign Grant Terms and Conditions agreement and release form

  • Provide written Grant Final Report Form with supporting documentation (receipts, invoices)

  • Final report required before subsequent grant requests considered

  • Provide appropriate recognition of Fresno Rotary/Foundation with signature displayed and included in media releases, social media, and print materials
  • Review Process:

  • Community Projects committee recommends grants

  • Final approval by Fresno Rotary Board of Directors

  • Some applications reviewed by Fresno Rotary Foundation (may take longer)

    Grant Application Requirements

    Application Materials Required:
    1. Brief description of the program and its rationale
    2. Statement of the program's goals and objectives
    3. Brief description of the population to be served
    4. Statement on how you plan to sustain the project/program
    5. Preliminary budget and quotes
    6. Description of the evaluation activities and desired outcomes
    7. Copy of Pages One, Two, and Part VI (Governance, Management and Disclosure) of the most recent IRS Form 990
    8. Quotes and documentation supporting the grant request
    9. Disclosure of any relationships that might be considered conflicts of interest between requesting organization, its Board of Directors, its management, and Rotary

    Application Submission:

  • Applications accepted on ongoing basis beginning July 1

  • Subject to fiscal availability of funds

  • Submit to: office@fresnorotary.org or mail to addresses listed

  • Include all supporting documentation with application
  • Review Process:

  • Committee will contact if questions arise

  • Applications reviewed upon receipt of complete documentation

  • Allow 90 days for response
  • Organizational Capacity Requirements:
    Applications should demonstrate:

  • Organization's ability to efficiently and effectively use funds and/or matching funds for greater community impact

  • Management, board of directors, and/or volunteers have capacity to achieve proposed outcomes

  • Documentation of partnering organizations and collaborative efforts
