Community Grants Program

Funder: Junior League of Palo Alto-Mid Peninsula (JLPA•MP)

Mission: The JLPA•MP is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

Program Goal

To create strategic partnerships with local nonprofits to drive meaningful impact in the community while developing member leadership and volunteer opportunities.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Tax-exempt status: Must have tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Non-discrimination policy: Organizations must have a non-discrimination policy
  • Mission alignment: Organization's mission must align with JLPA•MP's focus area
  • OFAC compliance: Grant recipients (organization, staff, and board members) may not be listed on the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated National (SDN) List. JLPA•MP will conduct a check before awarding funds.

    Focus Area

    Improving the wellbeing of the community through programs and community partnerships that address the impacts of systemic poverty on the physical and mental health of individuals and families, including:
  • Lack of sufficient housing
  • Food insecurity
  • Lack of provisions

Geographic Scope

Service area: San Mateo to Sunnyvale, California. A portion of grant funds must have the potential to benefit people or groups within this service area.

Range: $5,000 up to $100,000

    Funding Restrictions

    The following items cannot be funded:
  • Fundraising events, including tickets or tables
  • Trips or tours exclusively for the organization's personnel
  • Attendance at conferences or events not related to the organization's ongoing programs
  • Endowment campaigns
  • Costs already incurred
  • Education of any kind that includes any denominational or non-denominational religious component
  • Academic tuition to benefit an individual
