Community Grants (Community Foundation of West Alabama)

The Community Foundation of West Alabama makes grants for arts and humanities, children and youth, education, elder care, environment, health and medicine, recreation and social welfare. No grants are made to individuals, to religious organizations for religious purposes, for ticketed events, political purposes, lobbying, replacement of government funding, or endowments; ordinarily grants are not made for operating expenses (unless the initial stages of a pilot project), regularly recurring program expenses, or regularly supported activities of fundraising organizations. Organizations that have received grants are advised to wait a year before reapplying. The stated deadlines are April 1 and November 1 each year; the next occurrence after September 18, 2026 is November 1, 2026.

The Distribution Committee meets semi-annually in May and November; all grant requests must be submitted by April 1 and November 1 of each year, and requests received after the deadline may be held until the next meeting.
